Adrenaline in its purest form: active tourism on the Costa Brava
The Costa Brava, in addition to impressive coves and beaches, hides a thousand and one proposals for lovers of active tourism. From cycling routes, trails and a via ferrata, to underwater or kayak itineraries to discover the beauty of the Mediterranean from within.
Do you want to do active tourism on the Costa Brava? Don't miss the activities and hotels we have selected for you. Perfect to enjoy alone or in good company. You choose!
Via Ferrata: Cala del Molí (Sant Feliu de Guíxols)
To do the Cala del Molí via ferrata you don't need to be an experienced athlete, but you need to forget about vertigo and really want to have a good time. And this route, in addition to verticals up to 480 meters high and several suspension bridges, has spectacular views. It is the only one in Europe that passes over the sea and, without a doubt, it is one of the most impressive in Catalonia. Walking through it will not take you more than three hours, but its memory will last with you for a lifetime. A must if you want to do active tourism on the Costa Brava!
After visiting it, there is nothing better than diving into the warm waters of Sant Feliu de Guíxols and spending a night at the OMA Boutique Hotel. A space where comfort and warmth come together so you can enjoy your getaway to the fullest. Located in the heart of this town and a few meters from the beach, it is perfect for discovering the places and green routes of the Costa Brava.
Cycle tourism: Carrilet II Route (Girona – Sant Feliu de Guíxols)
This route that connects Girona with Sant Feliu de Guíxols will allow you to reach the sea from the capital. More than 39 km of cycle path between crops, wooded lands and cliffs that will allow us to discover the regions of Gironès and Baix Empordà. A paradise for cycling lovers and for those looking for active tourism options on the Costa Brava.
We can do the route in a single day and spend the night at the Hotel Sant Pol or, if we want, divide it into two and stop in Llagostera, the town that is in the middle of the route.
Hiking: Camino de Ronda
The Costa Brava is full of routes and itineraries for hiking lovers. But, without a doubt, the Camino de Ronda is the one that best concentrates the essence of the region: sea and mountains, sport and relaxation. Surrounded by spectacular panoramic views, this itinerary is the same one that the Royal Coastal and Border Police Corps and the Civil Guard used to carry out their “round” and detect the presence of smugglers in the area. Hence its name and, also, its route. And the fact is that Begur and Palamós, two of the towns through which this road passes, were the favorite places for those fleeing the law to hide.
Those days are gone, but not the spectacular nature of the Camino de Ronda. With two different routes to discover it (the coastal one, 43 km, and the circular one, 140 km) and three starting points to do it (Girona, Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Palamós), this itinerary is ideal for active tourism in the Costa Brava. Of course, don't try to do it in one day. In addition to comfortable shoes, it requires time. Two days in the case of the coastal route and eight, in the case of the circular route. The best way to discover the Mediterranean coast and enjoy hotels like the Hotel Aigua Blava or the Hotel Ancora!
The first is located in Begur, on the seafront and just a few meters from Aiguablava beach. The perfect hotel to gain strength between hikes and relax after a day of hiking. Its rooms, with views of the coast and an elaborate design, ensure a restful sleep. Its restaurant, prestigious inside and outside this town, is an approach to Catalan cuisine. Based on fresh and seasonal products, this gastronomic space will make you enjoy your stay with all your senses.
The second is located in Palamós, a few meters from La Fosca beach. Run by the Gispert-Ciurana family for more than 45 years, this space has cozy rooms, an outdoor pool and a restaurant specializing in Mediterranean cuisine. The necessary ingredients for a perfect getaway.
Diving: Medes Islands
Crystal clear waters, warm climate and an exceptional seabed. We are talking about the Medes Islands, the paradise of divers and lovers of water sports. An archipelago that, due to its marine flora and fauna, is one of the most important natural reserves in the western Mediterranean.
In its waters, in addition to diving and snorkeling, it is possible to take kayak routes and go hiking around the island.
A type of active tourism on the Costa Brava that will not disappoint you. Neither will the Hotel & Diving Les Illes. The best space to rest after a day of diving and activities in the Medes Islands. With Mediterranean-style rooms with sea views, it offers comfort and tranquility to its guests. Do you want to visit it?
