Hiking proposals along the Costa Brava
The Costa Brava is one of the most perfect settings for hiking all year round. Now, especially, with a backdrop of an intense autumn and with the decorated Pyrenees already beginning to turn white, it becomes an alternative to take into account when planning safe getaways. Walking in the open air is one of the safest activities you can do, and if the paths run through magnificent natural viewpoints, even better. The Costa Brava and its rural surroundings offer precious places, towns and villages, where you can travel to the past thanks to the legacy of Romanesque art and traditions that remind us of the origins of very rich lands. Lands that at the same time offer us the possibility of enjoying nature on our own or practicing adventure sports.
We make three proposals for you to enjoy hiking along the Girona coast, and with first-class accommodations like those guaranteed by the Costa Brava Verd Hotels establishments. On these tours, beaches, coves unknown to many people, constant and spectacular views of the sea from the cliffs, almost virgin stretches and many other surprises await you.
Put on your shoes, camera in hand and let's go!
From Cadaqués to Cap de Creus
As you know, the Cap de Creus Natural Park is a privilege of nature. We propose a 7-kilometer route that runs through this unique natural area in the world, "a grandiose geological delirium", as Salvador Dalí himself described it. We stand on the beach of Cadaqués to begin this walk, an exceptional autumn morning, which shortly after leaving will take us past the Salvador Dalí House-Museum. We will move forward, enjoying the open sea, and we will find charming beaches that are ideal for enjoying a quiet swim. Yes, yes, we still have time because the water is not as cold as it seems! So with a little courage you can enjoy the privilege of bathing practically alone in the Jonquet, San Lluís or Guillola coves. And shortly before reaching the Cap de Creus lighthouse you will also be able to immortalize some unique colors reflected in the sea, in the Playera cove.
Arriving at the tip of Cape Creus you will witness one of the best panoramic views of Alt Empordà. Don't be ashamed to say it out loud, you've got goosebumps! The landscape is truly exciting, an open and extensive sea opens up at your feet, which tread on live and steep rock along the insatiable Tramuntana.
To fully enjoy this outing you can organize a stay in some of the best hotels in the area, such as the Almadraba Park Hotel, or the Torremirona Hotel Relais Hotel Golf & Spa, both in Roses.
From Palamós to Calella de Palafrugell
The beaches of Palamós and Calella de Palafrugell are separated by about 9 kilometers of coastline, which hide one of the most beautiful stretches of the many coastal paths that the Costa Brava has. Therefore, you can take this excursion proposal with all the parsimony in the world, because you will want to stop at every corner to admire it. We will leave from La Fosca beach in Palamós, and in a few minutes we will arrive at the picturesque S'Alguer cove, which preserves the old fishermen's houses. We follow the marked path to reach Castell beach, where the remains of an Iberian village are found. The path climbs gently passing through several natural pine forests, next to the sea, and you will be presented with a series of unique coves such as Sanià, els Canyers, els Corbs, Estreta, el Crit, el Vedell... A delight for the senses!
And before reaching the first beaches of Calella, another natural jewel awaits you, the botanical garden of Cap Roig. Here you can make a stop to recover, and decide if once you have visited Calella you will return along the same path to Palamós, or if you will do so following the GR-92 itinerary, which passes more inland, but will allow you to save a little difference in altitude. .
For this excursion, keep in mind such unique hotels as the Hotel Àncora in Palamós, or the Hotel Alga, the Hotel Garbí and the Hotel Sant Roc in Calella de Palafrugell; and very close, in Tamariu, you have the Hostalillo and in Llafranc the Hotel Llevant, the Hotel Llafranc and the Hotel Terramar.
From Lloret de Mar to Tossa de Mar
This excursion is a little longer, with a distance of 12 kilometers. It is a coastal route, a constant up and down cliffs that requires being minimally fit, a condition that will allow you to enjoy many exceptional corners that will appear along the route, such as Porto Pi cove, Figuera cove , the cove d'Allà on Raja l'Aigua and many others. Arrival at the beach of Es Codolar, under the medieval walls of Tossa de Mar, is a more than well-deserved reward, and you will surely want to continue the walk through the old city of Tossa de Mar and make the climb to the lighthouse. You will be faced with incredible views of the southern Costa Brava, a natural wonder that was the scene of several naval battles that you can discover from the wall itself.
The return can also be done by retracing the path, or along the GR-92, which will allow you to shorten it a little. In this case, we suggest that you enjoy highly recommended accommodation such as the Hotel Sant Pol in S'Agaró or the OMA Boutique Hotel in Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
You know, enjoy the getaways. You will send us photos!
