Holidays with children in Garrotxa and the Pyrenees
What child doesn't like the idea of walking among volcanoes and passing through legendary forests? Of all the volcanoes in the Garrotxa region, Croscat is the most attractive, since it is cut like a cake and its profile can be best appreciated. Not far away, in the Fageda d'en Jordà, within the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park, there are those who choose horse carriages to take a circular route under the canopies of beech trees, the most daring can take the itinerary on horseback and those who are not in a hurry can follow the paths that cross the beech forest on foot.
La Fageda and Santa Pau Cooperative
Nearby we find a well-known farm where they manufacture dairy products. An excellent dessert to complete the outing through the Fageda d'en Jordà. Of course, it is mandatory to book your visit to the farm in advance. Very close to the beech forest is the medieval town of Santa Pau, where it is worth taking a walk through its medieval streets. At the Olot tourist office they will explain all the activities that you can do with children in the area.
Hotel La Perla Olot
To spend the night, we recommend the Hotel La Perla de Olot, ideal for staying with your family. This hotel was opened more than forty years ago and its owners celebrated the anniversary by painting some of the rooms with motifs from the Olotina showbiz, characters from the popular bestiary such as the Pig and the Lamb, the Giants or the Cabreta del Cornamusam. In addition, the hotel is located next to a quiet park with children's games.
By bike through Ripoll
There is another place that does not attract the attention of so many visitors, but is of great interest: the Pedra Tosca Park, on the borders of Olot and Les Preses, a volcanic area with cabins that served as refuge for farmers in the area. This visit is ideal to spend the afternoon after a tour of the Fageda and the volcanoes. And 20 minutes to the south we find the Carrilet Greenway. You can rent bicycles and enjoy this exclusive route for pedestrians and cyclists that takes advantage of the route of the old narrow gauge train that linked Olot with Girona. You should not miss this old railway route in the middle of nature.
Hotel La Coma
In summer, in Vallter 2000, you can do many family activities: visit the source of the Ter river by chairlift, take one of the many walking routes through the Pyrenees, visit the Parc Natural de les Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser, do a cycling outing, walking the Catllar de Setcases path... Very close by, in Setcases, is the Hotel La Coma, with a team that offers more than cordial treatment to guests. There is no lack of comfort for families: rooms, heated swimming pool, outdoor playground, games room, a good restaurant where you can enjoy homemade dishes and proximity to the mountain slopes. They also offer several apartments outside the hotel grounds.
Hotel Grèvol Llanars
The Camprodon valley is full of proposals. You can visit the Can Pascal oak grove, with oaks that are more than 250 years old; the Carboners fir forest, the easternmost fir forest in the entire Pyrenees... In Llanars you can stop at the Hotel Grèvol Spa. For those traveling with children, this accommodation offers a games room, a children's area, a table football, a ping-pong table and a spa where activities are offered to distract the children while the parents relax, with chocolate therapy proposals. and stretching sessions.
Visit to Molló Parc
Molló is another interesting Pyrenean destination. In Molló Parc you can see species of Pyrenean fauna, from chamois and marmots to wolves and foxes, as well as birds of prey such as the golden eagle. The tour lasts between two and three hours through the forest. In the town of Molló we can stay at the Hotel Calitxó, a great option to go with children. They have a garden, toys and family rooms, simple and pleasant, with wooden furniture and balconies that overlook the mountains or the town of Molló. Another highlight of the hotel is its restaurant, where you can taste typical Pyrenean dishes.
