Hiking on the Costa Brava: from Palamós to Begur
Do you like to travel kilometers on foot and are you looking for new hiking routes? Here is a proposal that will take you through some of the most beautiful towns on the Costa Brava, bordering the Catalan coast from Palamós to Begur.
Grans Hotels de Catalunya Hotels invites you to take short routes suitable for all types of walkers, with wide paths and spectacular views. You can take a day trip, cover all the sections in a weekend or go easy and spread the route over several days. Be that as it may, along these roads some of the most incredible landscapes of the Catalan coast await you. Prepare good shoes, a swimsuit, sunglasses and drink plenty of water!
From Palamós to Calella de Palafrugell
Our path leaves Palamós, where one of the most spectacular sections of the Camino de Ronda begins. To get up early and save time, we recommend spending the night at the Àncora hotel, a central starting point right in front of the town's beach.
We begin the route calmly, with a gentle path ideal for enjoying the natural environment. It is about 10 km that will take us through the Cap Gros viewpoint and several coves with turquoise waters, such as s'Alguer, Canyers and Golfet, where we can swim if the weather is good. It is also worth stopping at the Iberian town of Castell, a place full of history and very well preserved that dates back to the 6th century.
Without even thinking about it, after a few hours we will arrive in Calella de Palafrugell, where a wide range of restaurants awaits us where we can regain our strength. To sleep, in the town we find the cozy Hotel Garbí, with a magnificent pool to relax, or the Hotel Sant Roc, where we can enjoy panoramic views of the Mediterranean. In the center of Calella there is also the Hotel Alga, a good 4* accommodation option for a luxury break.
From Calella de Palafrugell to Llafranc
A very short section without much difficulty connects Calella with Llafranc. The trail is very wide, perfect for doing with small children, and has picturesque views of the surroundings of these old fishing villages. Leaving Canadell Beach, in 15 minutes we will be in Llafranc, where we can continue to the Sant Sebastià Lighthouse, an emblematic building located 169 meters above sea level.
If you decide to spend the night in the town, on the seafront you will find the Hotel Llafranc and the Hotel Terramar, two well-known family establishments in the Baix Empordà. In addition to a good rest, to enjoy a delicious meal we invite you to stay at the Hotel Casamar, it offers modern cuisine that gives visibility to the Empordà product. To finish, we also have the Hotel BlauMar, with an infinity pool overlooking the sea that offers a perfect haven of peace.
From Llafranc to Tamariu
About 5 kilometers from Llafranc is Tamariu. We will reach this town along another easy path that gives us visual spectacles, such as the Romaboira waterfall, an impressive cliff over the sea. After a more complicated descent, we will deviate from the path towards Cala Pedrosa, a practically virgin cove of stones that can only be accessed by walking. Enjoy a few moments of peace before continuing along a slightly wild stretch until you reach Tamariu, one of the most charming towns on the Costa Brava. The Hostalillo Hotel is the best accommodation option, due to its excellent location a few meters from the sea. Relax on the hotel's terrace while you watch the waves and try the gastronomic offerings of its restaurant.
From Tamariu to Begur
The last of the routes we propose takes us to Begur, a beautiful town with many things to visit, located about 7 kilometers away. We leave Tamariu and enter wooded paths until we reach Aiguablava beach, a magical shallow place that perfectly responds to its name. Make a stop at the Aigua Blava Hotel to enjoy an unforgettable stay on the seafront, and immerse yourself in the crystal clear waters.
The last stretch to Begur requires a slightly stronger effort, but it is worth it to reach this historic town surrounded by the best beaches on the Costa Brava. Take the opportunity to visit the remains of Begur Castle, located on a torón from which you will enjoy privileged views of the area.
Don't wait any longer, and delve into the routes that we propose for a perfect getaway to the Costa Brava!
